What changed, release by release. The app updates itself; the stable download always serves the newest build.
- A type filter menu sits beside the search field: always visible, it shows the active filter and lists every type with its shortcut key. Filtering works by mouse now, too.
- Copy all matches moved to ⌥⌘C: popular clipboard managers already use ⇧⌘C, so SnapGrep never received it.
- Custom types can use ⌥1–⌥0 as filter keys, ten more slots alongside ⌘1–⌘0.
- Copy every listed match at once, one per line: filter to emails, press the copy-all shortcut, paste the list.
- Setting up custom types is easier to follow: the URL field for actions is a full input row, with a Jira walkthrough right in Settings → Types.
- Setup offers to launch SnapGrep at login; you can change this anytime in Settings → General.
- SnapGrep checks for updates quietly when it starts.
- Fixed a crash that could occur while the update window was appearing.
- Window search now finds headings and control text — tabs, buttons, links, selected values, even the placeholder in an empty field — that the fast path used to walk past.
- Choose SnapGrep's appearance in Settings → General: same as the system, or always light or dark.
- The menu bar icon flashes when an alert fires, so alerts still land with sound off. After an update, SnapGrep shows what changed.
- Symmetric selection keys: ⇥ extends the selection, ⇧⇥ shrinks it, ⌃⇥ does the same on the other edge. ⌘↓ keeps adding paragraphs, ⌃↩ performs a plain click, and the modifier-↩ shortcuts can be reassigned.
- Sturdier matching: word search is reliable in optimized builds, uppercase hashes are recognized, and a pathological custom pattern can no longer stall a scan. AI cleanup keeps blank lines and leaves long lines unbroken.
- Translation says so when the clipboard changed before the copy, and Settings and Watch controls read better under VoiceOver.
- SnapGrep survives a rare crash triggered by the system's autofill panel — it recovers and keeps running, with checks, updates, and scans still going in the background.
- Alerts: SnapGrep now watches the screen for you. Describe a string to look for — optionally narrowed to a type like URLs or QR codes — and get a sound, a notification, or a shell command the moment it appears.
- Run several alerts at once, each with its own scope (a specific window, an app, one display, or everywhere), its own action, and its own check interval. Alerts fire once per appearance and re-arm only after the match is really gone.
- Watching a window for text usually runs on the Accessibility fast path — milliseconds per check without lighting the screen-recording indicator; QR alerts and screen-wide scopes use screen capture. Alerts on the same target share a single scan.
- A plain-language pass across the app: error messages say what to do next, "Entities" are now "Types", and German coverage is complete.
- One click to search: left-click the menu bar icon to open the panel; right-click keeps the full menu.
- Result rows highlight the characters that matched, and an explicit "No matches" state replaces the empty panel.
- Faster recognition on text-dense screens.
- Paste lands in the app you copied from — the delayed ⌘V can no longer end up in a window you switched to.
- License activation is more robust, and keys in the keychain are now scoped to this device only.

- License keys are now verified against the exact SnapGrep product — keys for other river42 apps no longer activate SnapGrep.
